Positive Affirmations for Boosting Self-Esteem

To be a self-assured woman, you must possess a solid self esteem. One effective method of boosting self esteem is the use of positive affirmations.  Why so?  Because, they change the way you think about yourself and the way you talk with yourself; this determines how you regard yourself.  However, a lot of women are unaware of the benefits of positive affirmations in boosting self-esteem.  Some do not know the proper way to go about it.

This article gives you a simple set of rules for creating and applying positive affirmations to boost your self-esteem.

1.  What Are Your Standards?

Exactly, what is self-esteem for you? You have to be absolutely clear about this, because this is very important. You cannot tell your brain to be confident if you have no clue what being confident is, or at best you have a hazy idea of it.

What is your concept of an individual with a strong self-esteem?  Is there anybody who fits your idea of a person with high self-esteem?  You can then begin defining the standards upon which to build your positive affirmations by observing how a confident person acts.

Affirmations for boosting self-esteem influence your subconscious mind, which responds to instructions.  Therefore, your affirmations must be very specific.  Use specific actions which represent strong self-esteem.  For example, you can say that it’s having the strength to fight for what is right, or the courage to speak in front of a crowd, or the guts to ask for a pay increase.  Your list should contain actions which you believe define a self-assured individual.

2. Creating Your Self-Esteem Affirmations

Your affirmations for boosting self-esteem must adhere to these four basic rules:  1) they must be in the present tense 2) they must be stated in the affirmative (no negative words like not, don’t, won’t, can’t, etc.), 3) they must be in the first person, and 4) they must be in the active voice.  Here are some examples:

“I am good at giving sales pitches”

“I am composed when I talk in front of a crowd”

“I approach and talk to high officials if I need to”

“I assert my rights”

You will notice that all of the above affirmations for self-esteem follow the given rules.

3. Practice, Practice, Practice

Boosting self esteem with positive affirmations requires consistent practice. Practice until it becomes a habit. Recite your affirmations out loud in the morning and in the evening. That way you train your mind, which like your body, has to be trained steadily.  If you do it on an on-and-off basis you won’t achieve the results you want.  Write new ones if you get bored after repeatedly reciting the same affirmations for some time.

Practice your affirmations daily and you will exude confidence in your thoughts, actions and beliefs.
